The outer tie rod ends are ball joints too.

The only thing that needs to be done here is to jack the thing up and wiggle the wheel around and find out where there's play. Normally if a wheel moves that much something is toast and it's going to be obvious.

I have done that and the main source is the u shaped fitting (on top of the king pin that the shock connects to and the a arm).I am deciding that almost everything is a little sloppy and it all adds up

the ball joint assembly's are not adjustable
the tie rods can be adjusted but not 2"
