No load voltage of old Lester chargers
I picked up 38 & 48v Lester chargers from fleamarket, guess these are non regulated older type sense they only have transformer a capicitor and rectifers
inside. Does anyone know what the output voltage on these older type chargers should measure? Do older type chargers like these need to be turned off manually after amp meter drops to near 0? |

Re: No load voltage of old Lester chargers
Does it have a model # on it anywhere. We use to have an old 48v and I remember it to be around 58-60v. If you have the model someone may recognize it or have literature on it. It use to charge down and cut off. (No OBC or anything on that cart.

not sure of the output voltage but they should shut off themselves when they drop back to 0 amps. there is no manual shut off to my knowledge except removing the DC cord from the cart

Re: No load voltage of old Lester chargers
Ok 36v is mo# 36LC25T12, 30amp output, bought it because my newer charger only has 14amp output, the 48v models # is gone but it does have a
ratcheting type mechanical timer 1-24hr dial, dead and has been bypassed. Just wondering if these older chargers maybe put out higher voltage and may need monitoring. If Lester puts out 30amp it should charge batteries twice as fast. |

Re: No load voltage of old Lester chargers
Battery charging is a minimum 3 stage algorithm, meaning 3 different amperage rates will be used. While a higher first stage is desirable it does not mean charge time will be reduced significantly.

Re: No load voltage of old Lester chargers
Ok, sense these manual chargers only have transformer, capacitor and diodes
inside tronic regulation, then it would be bad for the batteries, sounds like i should stick with smaller smart chargers. |

Re: No load voltage of old Lester chargers
Bulk charge rate should be 10% of the battery amperage capacity. If the small smart chargers have significantly lower amperage than 10% of capacity the battery will have a reduced useful life
