They'll be connected in series, so the voltage adds, but the AH don't

8 X 6V 232AH connected in series is a 48V 232AH pack
6 X 8V 170AH connected in series is a 48V 170AH pack

A 48V 170AH pack has about the same energy stored in it (kWh) as a 36V 225AH pack, so the run times will be about the same. The 48V 232AH pack has about 36.5% more energy stored in it. See Attached list.

The higher range of the 48V 232AH pack is offset somewhat by the fact it weighs about 120 pounds more than the 48V 170AH pack. The additional weight also affects performance, roughly the same as always carrying a passenger.

If you go with US Battery, be sure to get a charger the will charge them properly. They require a different charge profile than Trojan batteries, which most chargers are set up for.

Several chargers on the market, such as the DPI Accusense I use, have user selectable charge profiles that include US Battery.

I'm pretty good at "googling" but came up with nothing looking for a manufacture webpage. Like Johnnie said, post a link please.

Like I said earlier, I came up with a Lithium-Ion SLI battery.

I agree with cgtexh - the picture you posted looks like a Trojan "Black Box" 8V.

thanks JohnnieB for you insight , you are very knowledgeable
, so my question is , which set up do i go with ? my main uses for the cart is cruising my neighborhood , ocasional trips to the public pool (about 3 miles one way) camping trips some long trail rides , and use at my Marina , I want something that has a decent run time , , my passangers include my g/f and her 7 year old son , would I be happy with 170 ah 8 volts ? or 8 6volts ? I am possibly going to do some longer rideing in the range of 10-12 miles one way , looking for my best possible option in batterys ,

The 10-12 mile one way trips, means you need a range over 25 miles.
What size tires do you have?
What air pressure do you run in the tires?
What drive system? (Series or DCS or PDS)
What controller?

The 8 x 6v will most likely give you that range and the 6 x 8v might. It depends on how efficient your cart is.

My goal was range and I ended up with a 42V (7 X 6v-245AH) battery pack, that fits under the seat and get well 30 miles, but I have a Sepex motor and use regen braking,

Good question. I don't know if they were built to Interstate specs or US Battery specs.

If they are US Battery specs, the old Lester might not be charging them fully.

Shoot an e-mail to US Battery and ask. http://www.formstack.com/forms/?420618-IP9rFy6gSf

That's a good question. I don't know the answer.
If they were built to US Battery specs, the old Lester probably isn't fully charging them.

Send US Battery an e-mail and ask: http://www.formstack.com/forms/?420618-IP9rFy6gSf
