Default Brakes shoes do not fit?

new set of brake shoes for my 2000 txt 36v ezgo do not fit.. I ordered the correct shoes for my model. The shoes that are on there look more like the older style of shoes. the 1st pic looks like the ones i am replacing the 2nd pic is what I ordered. One is 5.11 in. and the other 5.51 in. ( I forget at the moment which is which). Any help appreciated.. Live in Costa Rica and do not want to pay for a other set that does not work.. to much cash and time to waste so I need to get the right ones. thanks!!

The bottom picture with the oblong hole offset from the center is the newer style shoe. It should fit '96 1/2 and up. Is it possible that you have an older style backing plate on yours?

Thats what I am thinking… the backing plate cleaned up super nice all black. Maybe some work was done and they replaced it with a older style backing plate?

A mechanic buddy who live here just said I might be able re-shoe my old one with organic or metal fiber? somethan like that.. he said will cost about $40.00 and take 2 days. I might go that route?
