Batteries weak already?
I've got 4 12v setup, batteries are 06 2017 crown. I've charged the cart anytime I move it, dpi smart charger. I have a small half mile neighborhood me and my girls run the cart around. If I do two loops I'm already down 1 bar on my voltmeter. Seems like just recently my batteries weren't holding great capacity. I've also got a strange issue that seems like the cart drives strong and fast for a couple of loops and then it just feels like speed is getting held back. Controller was upgraded to 400 amps, added bigger 2 gauge cable to motor but they were still heating up. Any idea why my batteries seem to be loosing capacity already

Re: Batteries weak already?
A couple of things; Ditch the bar battery meter for a digital one. You'll be so much happier and know exactly what kind of voltage your pack is showing.
Second, did you only upgrade the motor cable to 2 gauge or did you replace all battery cable also? If you didn't replace the 6 gauge battery cables also, that will hold your performance back with the new controller and explain why the cables are getting hot. |

Re: Batteries weak already?
I've got 00 battery cables, 2 gauge motor to controller, those are the ones that are still getting hot.

Re: Batteries weak already?
00 is overkill, but overkill is underrated
If your 2 gauge cables are getting hot you have a loose connections somewhere. Heat = resistance = power loss |

Re: Batteries weak already?
Motor connection is tight, controller is tight, solenoid is tight, not sure where else it could be.

Re: Batteries weak already?
What kind of connections do you have on the cables - Compression, Crimp or Solder? Need to make sure you are not having a loss or heat dissipation from those connections. If you have a IR temp gun you can shoot each connection and cable and see where it is coming from. And you said 4/12 set-up which tells me an IQ cart so you should not have any heat on the F1/F2 cables so shoot the A1/A2 cables and see what they are actually running and where it starts....

Re: Batteries weak already?
What motor is in it? Is the cart lifted? Any other mods?
Should we assume the water level in the batteries is correct? Also 12V batteries don't run as long as the 8V batteries. Especially under high current demand. |

Re: Batteries weak already?
The water is good, I'm running the cart around 15mph or so.
)Stock motor, how do you know if brushes need to be replaced? Another issue that seems to be happening recently is that you run full pedal and it starts out strong but it seems that it slows down, then you can stop and randomly does the same thing or it runs full pedal speed...???
