SR48500 in 2001 Club Car DS Still Slow on Hills
I have the AllTrax SR500 controller, D&D 4:2A motor (supposed to be their torque motor) with upgraded 500A solenoid, HD F/R switch, and 2 gauge cables. Brand new Trojan T875 batteries. 6" AllSports A Arm lift with 23" tires on 10" wheels. All this is installed in my 2001 Club Car DS.
I get about 17-18 on flat ground, but it loses a good amount of speed on the hills in western Pa (down to 10-11mph). Is this controller programable? Anything else I should check? I thought with this setup I would maintain a little more speed going up and down these hills. |

Re: SR48500 in 2001 Club Car DS Still Slow on Hills
I have the same question, I'm getting 12-13 on the flats and 8 mph on hills, but I have stock tires so that would put me in the same ball park as you. I was questioning the F/R switch or motor but you replaced both, so now I'm thinking it is what it is until I upgrade the motor???? We'll see what the all knowing has to say.

Just took it for a ride. It was 18mph on flat ground, 10mph up the hill pack voltage was 43.8

That pack voltage is low unless that is a steep incline...

What you need is a horsepower motor. It's not clear what motor you got now except it's a D&D.

From D&D "Definitely the 4:2A. It has more steel and copper. The maximum torque and the lowest current draw. Better range and battery life. Speed 17 mph with 22” tires" |

The motor is rated at 10.2 HP Peak @ 3470 rpm. They claim it should only go 15 mph on a flat paved surface w/big tires. I would think you need a motor that produces its max hp at about 55-6000 rpm's. What you have now is more of a hunting buggy.

That’s what I built it for, I just figured it would do better than 10mph going up a hill.
