Default 1998 Gas Club Car - no power on hills

I have a 1998 Gas Club Car with a F290 motor. The cart is very fast but will not let you go slow. No matter how slowly I push the gas pedal as soon as it start it goes to full speed. The only way I have found to cruse along slow is to keep punching the gas pedal. The cart also does not have any power going up hills, it almost dye on even small hills. Any ideas?

I’d have to say you have clutch issues.

Lol…you’re in the Yamaha forem. But, while you’re here… My Yamaha G1 would not go uphill, move in deep grass, or fully loaded. It was bad crank seals. Might wanna ask around the Club Car forem.

Look at your carburetor throttle arm and linkage, your throttle butterfly should be fully closed when not pushing the pedal.
Make sure your idle stop screw is not screwed in, in fact you can remove it completely because you don't use it.
Your throttle should be adjusted to move just after the solenoid start turning the motor.
