Do you have pic's
Chris has the cart. The main cut off does not go through a solenoid. If the solenoid sticks, yer in deep doo doo. Ours goes from the pack, through the swith and then to the controller.

Check out my post on the first page. the one with the picture of the marine battery switch and see if it is like what you are using. That is what garage built was asking you.

Hey G, I saw that. Looks awefully confusing. We got ours from Jegs. It has two polls and On and Off.

What about two solenoids?

the one controlled by the controller and the other wired to a switch that just turns on/off on the negative side of the motor or pack.

so start up would go. turn on negative solenoid, turn on controller switch. then if something goes wrong turn them both off?
this is not good idea, you'll be creating more resistance and you can weld both solenoids. This is drag cart amperage thirsty.
For my opinion the best is some sort of manual switch in either negative or positive post.
Why not post this question on Nate's dcspeed forum?

yes the switch on the pos or neg was my first suggestion. And I knew of the marine switches bc they are sealed and you don't have to worry about them getting wet and corroding on the inside.

seesh.

and the solenoid was just me brain storming and throwing stuff on the wall to see if it would stick.

Marine battery switches are not sealed, they are all open on the back side.
For a drag cart the best solution is a knife switch and a pull cord for emergency shutdown.
If you must use a marine switch, get one that will handle the amperage or it will weld shut as well.
Here's one that is rated 450 AMPS Continuous, 1200 AMPS Intermittent
