Default 96 ezgo headlights not working

I just bought a 96 ezgo from a second party. It came with headlights but they wont come on,I chased the wires to a toggle switch and then to the batteries. Now there isn't a resister in the line anywhere and I looked at the helegon bulbs and they say 12 volt on the back of it. Is a resister needed for my 36 volt system??????

WELCOME to the forum

Have you posted this in the EZGO section?

Also, check out the wiring diagrams for EZGO carts listed in the 'stickies' portion at the top of the EZGO section.

No resister needed--Just catch two of the 6v batteries. Neg & Pos and you have 12V. You may find wires hooked up like this already.

Here is a typical battery setup. Any of the batteries with the cable connecting them together can be used.
Here is the pairs you can use by this picture. #1 is + #2 is -.
B-#1 and #2
#2-#3
#3-#4
#4-#5
#5-#6
These are the only way you will get 12 volts any other combo will blow the bulbs.

Talking Re: 96 ezgo headlights not working

Hey guys thanks for the help and info on the 12 volt hook up. I took the light bar off and found that one of the halagon bulbs was broken, so I'll replace both bulbs and give it a try. THANKS AGAIN
