Re: G1 Thread: Everything About G1's for Newbies
Been questions about solenoids. This is 79-82ish old style solenoids. Big studs left to right which I call 1-4.
Stud 1 goes to A2 on starter/gen Stud 2 goes to F1 on starter/gen. Also has short cable to stud 4. Stud 3 goes to A1 Stud 4 cable to battery ground.(yes I know in the pic in the cable is red but it is indeed ground) small studs left to right. stud 1 black wire to 3 pin white connector stud 2 balck wire to harness with inline fuse stud 3 blue wire to 3 pin white connector stud 4 black wire to 3 pin white connector (yes one pin has 2 black wires) stud 5 yellow wire to 3 pin white connector. F2 stud on starter/gen is battery positive stud If any pros see any mistakes let me know. I did this off a cart I parted out. I did test the starting system before removal. Re: G1 Thread: Everything About G1's for Newbies
Wiring up White Rodgers Solenoids on any G1.
Im unsure how to edit pics or I would have labled the studs in the pics. So after mounting the solenoids with the small studs facing forward. Look at the front of the solenoids and left to right is big studs 1-4. the back studs then become studs 5-8. In other words look at picture 2. On the left from bottom to top is studs 5-8 and on the right bottom to top studs 1-4. Lets start with the big studs first. 1st stud has short cable connecting it to stud 5. Stud 5 then has long cable to A2 on starter/gen 2nd stud has short cable connecting it to stud 3. Stud 3 then has long cable to F1 on starter/gen 4th stud has short cable connecting it to stud 8. Stud 8 then has long cable to A1 on starter/gen Stud 6 has short cable connecting it to stud 7. Stud 7 then has long cable to Battery ground post. Stud 7 also has a small wire that goes into the main harness with a glass fuse holder. F2 on starter/gen is battery positive post. Next is the small studs. they are facing forward. solenoid 1 is on the left and solenoid 2 is on the right. Solenoid number 1 top small stud yellow wire to 3 pin white connector. Solenoid number 1 bottom small stud black to 3 pin white connector. Solenoid number 2 top small stud blue wire to 3 pin white connector. Solenoid number 2 bottom small stud black wire to 3 pin white connector. (yes 2 black wires share a pin on the white 3 pin connector.) If any pros see mistakes please let me know. This is how my 80 G1 was wired up when I got it. It seems to work properly. Hoping this wasn't to confusing. |

Aftermarket CDI
my 80 came pre-wired with this after market CDI. Thought id share it in case someone is needing a CDI. It is Chinese made but seems to work well. this is on my same cart with the White Rodgers solenoids. CDI yellow wire to factory orange wire. CDI red wire to factory brown. CDI Black wire to factory black with white stripe. CDI Green wire to factory black wire. CDI Blue wire ties into both white factory red/white stripe wires. Check the last pic. See how they soldered in diodes to keep it from I THINK backing feeding into the pulsar coil for forward and reverse. you can find these on ebay by typing in New Racing CDI. such as this. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Racing-6Pin...lbe275&vxp=mtr this member seems have found a replacement for the pulsar coil. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...ulse-coil.html Last edited by mikeasis; 09-22-2018 at 02:33 PM.. Reason: added pic and notes for diodes |

A member found an error. don't know how I messed this up but. stud 4 does not have the red wire to battery ground. stud 4 only has a short wire connecting it to stud 2. I meant to say the red cable in the pics are to battery ground post. |

Re: G1 Thread: Everything About G1's for Newbies
My 1979 G1 Golf cart is not charging my 12v Battery. It goes down to 9-10 volts whole running.
-Adjusted the Phillips screw inside the Voltage regulator. -Grounded the Voltage regulator D- directly to the battery. -Checked resistance between Starter generator Green/Red wires I believe 6k ohms -I get about 7 volts from one post and 10.5 volts from another post coming from generator. How to verify it’s either the Vr or the Sg? |

G1 Thread: Everything About G1's for Newbies
Well fellows: Call me Victor, I drove the dickens out my old 1980 G1 for roughly fifteen years with very little trouble.
But, I finely wore the pulleys etc. out. My best friend is a smart fellow so, we worked a long time to fix it. Everything is very good except, before we tore it down it started as soon as we stepped on the gas. No it takes a long time to start with full choke. Runs great but I want to step on it and hang on. Thanking you in advance for you help. Victor. ( Alias zipper. ) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
