Yamaha G1
So I have a Yamaha G1 that was riding fine then one day just quit. If I put a little gas down the carb it fires up for a second then quits. Searching around I came up with crank shaft seals were bad because I have a new carb, fuel pump, spark plug. Not sure of compression because I dont have a tester but was getting plenty from hand over spark plug. So I finally tackle the clutch side to replace the seal and it looks brand new? The other side one of my screws are stripped on the fly wheel plate. So the question is, would it not be my seals and something else?

Re: Yamaha G1
Does the seal show signs of failure? Leaking oil or dampness around it?

Re: Yamaha G1
No thats the funny thing, when i first got the golf cart they said it had not ran in 5 years. I bought a fuel pump and ran it all summer at camp ground till the end when it just stopped. I was kinda mad when I got the clutch side off and seen that the seal looked like the brand new just like the one I bought.

Re: Yamaha G1
Usually leaking seals won't just quick like that. It will get hard to start and progressively get worse, and eventually run with the choke only. I'd look at a fuel issue or spark issue. Check both and see what you find.

Re: Yamaha G1
Pouring a little gas in carb and it runs would be a spark issue?
