Default Starter/Generator getting really hot

I have a 2004 club car with a Kawasaki engine. I replaced the starter/Generator And volatize regulator. After a mile trip you cant out your hand on S/G its way to hot.
Checked volatize at Battery at speed and its putting out 14.8.
I also replaced the wiring and clean and checked ground connections.

I'm on my 2nd S/G just burns up the first one melted the brushes.
I am buying OME S/G not the cheep ones from Amazon.

140°F is generally too hot for a hand to touch an object without getting burned, but most engine parts are suited to run between 200 to 240°F without a problem. It's right over top of a running engine, and has a hot exhaust manifold right next to it.

Your V/R is keeping the output a bit high in my opinion, but not out of the ordinary. 14.6V is generally pretty normal for these. Check and or replace all of your battery cables if there is any corrosion or damage to the cable ends.
Make sure the regulator case has a good ground to the battery -. Run a separate ground wire from the regulator the the battery - if it doesn't have one.
Also make sure the battery - cable where it connects On the frame is clean and there is no corrosion on the frame. Even a small amount of oxide between the cable and the frame can cause problems.

update

After a 45 minute ride. I use a temp. gauge for the heat range.

engine was 185
muffler was 400 exhaust tube was 300
starter/generator cast ends were 290 center body 250. i know it next to the muffler but I'm thinking that's too high.

What condition is your battery in? A poor or dying battery can draw a lot more amps from the Starter generator when the engine is running and that could cause it to heat up.

I havent ever checked one with a temp gun, but that doesn’t really seem out of the ordinary.

Like I said before, check and clean ALL of the ground connections, including the ground points on the frame, and see if the voltage output comes down some.
