Re: Yamaha G9 Club - Everything G9!
You guys use a helmet? Lol, where I worked we were on tables and ladders and holding parts, so helmets were only used for welding long welds mostly. I hardly ever put it on my head. I used to get sunburn on my ears, had to rotate what way I turned at times but then got smart and typically shadow the weld with my gloves so it does not shine at my face. But sure I should pick up a darkening helmet some day, just figure the batteries would go dead between weld jobs as I don't do it that much now. It did take a while to learn welding blind, but kind of had to at that job. The stuff we welded was large and you had to climb all over it. Something on the bench I'd use a helmet.

Re: Yamaha G9 Club - Everything G9!
Just found an auto darkening helmet at BIG R (ranch store) for $69. Seems to be OK for my use. And it's "solar powered"!! Guess I'll have to put it outside this afternoon to charge it so I can use in tonight.
Shade is adjustable 9 - 13 so it's good for wire feed, gas and arc. A bit disappointed it doesn't have a skeleton face, flames, racing decals or other decoration though. I thought that was mandatory on these things. Maybe I'll just paint some flowers (like the '60s vans/VWs) on it. |

Hey - I said '60s and VWs, not '20s and "T"s.
Mike and I are from the same era, and we share tastes in MUSIC (the REAL stuff, not the cr@p from the '80s and later) ... but *I* don't listen to hate radio. |

Re: Yamaha G9 Club - Everything G9!
Well, I'll admit I had a few mid-50s Chevs ... along with a Triumph TR3 and an MG, and a few VWs, a '62 Metro bread truck, a '65 Dart GT and a few others. Cars were pretty cheap back then ... and it seemed I'd find another one every couple of months!
