My g1 hunting cart
Ok, finally figured out how to post photos...I know I'm just lazy. But I figured I'd better start posting my project since I have used up all my "free advice without posting photos" time. So here we are guys. It's officially a project....
Here it is right after I got it home.... Pretty sad looking I know. But with a running Exciter 440 engine (not hooked up) and all the orig drivetrain intact, I couldn't pass up the $250 price tag. |

Re: My g1 hunting cart
I can't figure out how to do thumbnails so the big pics will have to do for now.
I'll give you all a rundown of what I did so far: Body off, repaired battery tray frame area, repainted frame, new wiring and starter gen, jakes 6 in lift, atv shocks front and rear, fully rebuilt engine w/crank, bearings, seals, jugg, heat, piston, and rings, new camo paint, new seats, cleaned up clutches, atv tires, and a plow setup. I have pics of everything up to this point. I'll post a few and if you want to see anything in particular let me know. The objective is to build an off road capable machine to haul me and a friend into the woods to hunt, but to also make it usable around the house for fun and work. Here is what it looked like before and after lift/paint, and wheels.... |

Re: My g1 hunting cart
Here you go!
Before paint... After paint... After camo... I used 4 colors: olive drab (base), dark brown, light brown, black. I took oak leaves and tall grass and used them as a stencil and ended up with a homemade mossy oak look. It's not bad, I've had some good compliments on it. It's not really what I wanted. I would have liked to go with a mossy oak or realtree wrap kit, but too expensive right now. |

Re: My g1 hunting cart
I'm building this cart to keep, to hunt, to drive. It's gonna get scratched, cracked, bumped, bloodied, and abused. It's not a trailer queen or a campground cart, and she's not pretty....but she's all mine.
So, here's another fun part of this build. The guy I got it from was going to put the Exciter 440 in it, but after I checked it out, the clutch on the sled engine stuck out too far past the frame on the driver's side so I was not going to be able to lift it. So out it came. It did run, but never got hooked up to the transaxle because it was offset too far. Still have it. Looked pretty good at first... Washed it up and it looked better... Uh oh...clutches don't line up....exhaust would have to hang off the outside of the cart too... not good for off road... |

Re: My g1 hunting cart
Here is a pic of my frame mod for the clearance issue of the primary clutch. I heated it up a bit and hit it with a sledge hammer a few times. Got this tip from SKARP here on the forum. Thanks Stephen! |

Re: My g1 hunting cart
The guy I bought the cart from was putting that sled engine in it and he cut out the battery tray to make room for a huge exhaust pipe.
So, again a little help from SKARP, he sent me a new tray/frame that he sectioned out for me. And I cut and fit and trimmed and refit that thing until it fit pretty good. Hey I'm not a body pro, but I was pretty proud of myself. |
