Default Diode melting

Got my cart all built and ready to go….went out on the initial ride and rode for about 7 sec then the diode melted….anyone have any ideas to what May of happened??

In Backwards???? Probably. The diode should not even get slightly warm.

Is it the diode or the pre charge resistor connected across the large terminals of the solenoid...

When I had it the other way the cart wouldn’t move acted like it wasn’t getting enough power motor…motor just fluttered. Flipped the diode and it ran great for 7 sec then nothing 🤦🏻*♂️🤦🏻*♂️

Also I have a diode and a resistor on the large terminal on the solenoid. The another diode on where the blue and yellow wires attach too

The resistor across the large terminals can go on either way...The diode across the small terminals of the solenoid must be installed with the stripe side towards the positive side of the small terminal...Don't know why you have a diode across the large terminals..What year and model cart...

2013 ezgo txt 48v

You can see in the picture there was a diode on the large terminals but it got fried…maybe I’m totally missing something just hoping y’all can help

In your picture there is a diode on the SMALL terminals where it should be. There should not be a diode on the large terminals - just the precharge resistor.

Looks like you have an Alltrax controller with 2 diodes...Read this thread...
