Default need some advise

hi every one. im getting ready to build a robin 290 motor. building motors is not new to me. but i am used to 8cyls not 2. i dont mind taking a motor to its limits. ive read a lot of threads on here and some say you can get 15hp or more out of this engine and others say you cant. face it any one can buy a big block. but whats the fun in that. if some one can guild me in the right way i would be thankful. thanks again mike

If your going into the motor already I would consider the 350 w/ a 295 head. I did it to mine and the difference is amazing.

my two cents is if you have a usable 295 build it, the 350 with the 295 head does work well. but you need to find the 350 block! there around but they go for a good buck and you can get the same outcome with the engine you have.

as you already know, HP and torque don't always go hand in hand! the v twins give you alot of torque at low rpm's and the 295/350's need to turn fast to make power. the ignitor has a rev limiter so you will need to upgrade the iginition as well as other things.

the block may or may not need to be decked, your piston choice will determine that.
