From my past experience:
When I replaced my S/G belt, I tightened it too tight, (I didn't think that was possible)
and it "over-worked" my starter/generator and blew the 10 amp fuse in my electrical components box,
Check the fuse first, then if and when you get it running, check the voltage at the battery in maintenance mode,
and you should have 15.3 volts at half to full engine speed, if not, your voltage regulator is bad!

Just wanted to post my findings for future reference. It was the Voltage Regulator. Easy fix and im going nuts replacing starters etc...

I'm glad you finally got it fixed!

Now might be a good time to get yourself a service manual, it's worth it's weight in Starter/Generators!
