G1 Little Monster
So I finally wrapped up my G1 build and we are having a blast with it. we named it the little Monster.
I revive an old non running g1 . raptor lingered the body. lifted 4" with 20" tires on stock rim's. Led front and rearlighting. motor got new crank seals and begs. bored to 247cc heavy port work enticer cylinder head phazer piston and rings carbon fiber blaster reeds mikuni vm34 carb advanced ignition timing banshee pipe comet 94c clutch. She runs like a top launches at 2700 rpm and spins to 8100 rpm. she fast.lol No regrets on this build. |

Re: G1 Little Monster
she shifts out at 5700 rpm would like to up that to 6000 but I am having issue with down shifting. i have to keep my rpm up and if i go into a hill slow it will hesitate to downshift causing a bog. as soon as it comes alive she tips. any advice on the clutching would be great. thanks.

Re: G1 Little Monster
Very very cool! I love the G1. When I did mine I found the same issue with hills. The 2 strokes just don't want to climb hills all that well. Clutching is key too, but the 2 stroke engines just don't have the hill climbing torque of a 4 stroke. I have a 400cc 2 stroke Polaris quad, now that thing will climb some hills, but it does it at a high rpm. So powerband has a lot to do with the hill climbing, gotta keep it in the pipe. With that banshee pipe I'm guessing the powerband is high, but does it match the full shift of the clutch?

Re: G1 Little Monster
From the photo it appears your belt is riding too far down in the secondary clutch. That's either a severely worn belt, or a worn out/broken secondary clutch. It looks like you are running a puck style primary, probably not the issue, I'm guessing your bog and backshifting is secondary related.

Re: G1 Little Monster
SLONOMO Thanks! Sometimes we are so focused on the details we miss the obvious. LOL. Put a new belt on and she rips. That and the throttle cable was stretched and not getting full throttle anymore. I would still like to raise the upshift from 5700 to about 6500 as this little brat loves to spin. I know you have messed with secondary clutches. I am also considering building a front end like yours but i am building a new barndominium at this time and will not be able to mess with this for a few months.
