Default Bypass Yamaha G9 key switch

Is there anyway I can temporarily bypass my ignition switch to make my cart run ?

Just tie the 2 wires together. I believe there are only 2 of them behind the switch.

The switch I have has 4 wires brown,red,black,black/red stripe

Are you sure it’s not a G2?

G9 only has a brown and red.
G2 also has a black and black/red.

Jump the brown and red wires together.


If it is a G2 the black and black/red go to the oil light. Don’t need ‘em unless you want the light to work, which isn’t really necessary for testing.

Hummmm here is my vin number JG5-212702 and the front of my body has the black rubber going around the top not the aluminum kind ?

Thanks cp241 I got it, I ordered 2 sets of keys for this cart and all lost in Michigan, found a kids atv key switch and used the red and black wires and works great and fits great and a cheap alternative. And the Chrysler mod works great....again thanks for the help

Cool beans. I used an ATV switch on my old G9 also. And actually have one in my club car now too, because I installed a dash and the oem one wouldn’t fit in it. I like the rubbery keys too glad you got it going!
