That's perfect! When reassembling, you will need to back off the crank to insert the balancer to get the timing marks correct. The piston would be stamped if it was .25 or .50 over. Hone the cylinder, rings should have 0.008 to 0.016 in end gap. Remove the valves, decarbon combustion chamber, remove and replace valve stem seal (on intake, no reason to have one on the exhaust, just gets to hot) lap the valves and your on your way. Rings should be staggered (piston arror pointing to front of engine) top ring 11 oclock/2nd ring 5 oclock/lower oil ring 1 oclock/upper oil ring 7 oclock. Torque rod bolts to 29 ft lbs. Head bolts (staggered) 20 ft lbs. Have fun

Schererville-Merrillville Border

Love the Lighthouse on the lake.
Good food and 1/2 price wine on Wednedays !

Will be down in Raleigh in April for my Sisters wedding, then cruise over to Charlotte to visit TBR Race shop before flying home.

No markings on the piston other than the arrow.
Will have the cylinder and piston mic'd tomorrow.

The stem on the Exhaust Valve is kinda pitted, so that will get replaced.

Got the intake seal off...
I am assuming the new one can be pressed on with a socket that will
fit over the rubber seal and spring and catch the metal housing ?

You can just push the valve stem seal on with your thumb. Make shure to oil or use some grease on the rubber lip.

OK...got the mic to do the piston. This thing was ridden hard and put away wet. Oh well...

Anyway....piston is showing at 2.923 just above the top ring.
It is about 2.935 on the base area of the piston (where the connecting arm pin is)

This mic is sloppy, so I will get another one, but I am assuming the base of the piston is supposed to be alittle wider than the ring area.

Attached is the cylinder after I deglazed it. No shiny areas, no gouges, no top ridge.

Waiting for the inside mic to come in so I can measure the cylinder and test the outside mic.

Piston is to be mic'd from the bottom edge of the piston .20 in and std is 2.953 in. Cylinder mic's at 2.953-2.954 in. Any taper diferance limit is 0.006 in. Out of round limit is 0.006 in. If there are no "score marks" on piston skirt or cylinder (after honeing), sounds like a new set of rings are in order. I have the luxery of installing/seating a new set of rings and messureing end gap, top and 2nd ring-0.008-0.016 in with a limit of 0.04 in. Hope that helped you decide.
