Default C/C DS headlight kit & body question

Newbie here....doing all my due diligence & research before tearing into a dead (but cheap) '87 DS. Gonna' do suspension/hyd brakes/VC 620 as a dirt road/trail runner. Headlight kits...why do I see the aftermarket light kits cutting off at '93 and newer? Is the contour of the front cowl different? Also....will the later plastic bodies retrofit back on old stuff like mine with the F/G body?

Thanks a ton for any input!

First, I would double check and see if you have a fiberglass body or a plastic body. 87 should have been an older fiberglass body, but not many of those left in operation due to damage and etc. Most have been swapped already to the newer style plastic body.

IMO... I've installed many headlight kits. Their performance is lacking... Unless there's body damage to that area that's easier to fix by cutting it out by installing headlights I will opt for a nilite 12" light bar. You can get them on amazon for under 20 bucks and they fit perfect on top of the front bumper. They're 10x brighter than any headlight kit I've purchased and work great.

And yes, the contour is a little different.

Thanks a bunch, guys. Much appreciated. This old brute actually has the snout it was born with, after looking at the pics. Now I know the difference. I have the technology to deal with that....
