Re: The CLONE engine whats wron w this picture??
Im stuck!!! duromax 16 hp in a 94.5 ezgo medalist im told??? it has a plastic front and a 3 piece metal rear body, putting the engine in and the head seems to hit the rear end before I can make room for the generator???
seems like the engine should be mounted higher so the head clears the rear end. will I be using the old stock drive belt? if soo it looks to be about 4" too short. I am using 1.25 square tubing for the mount that will be mounted to the bottom of the axle with u bolts and the front will be mounted with a double ended heim joint. Thanks Dave my build http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/clone...zgo-build.html 2013-09-28 02.21.12.jpg 2013-09-29 14.25.12.jpg 2013-09-29 14.25.23.jpg |

Re: The CLONE engine setup & specs thread
LOL, you dug my old thread up out of the depths! This was the first clone I put in. This should be in clone/bigblock but I'll bite. You want to make the mount so it is lifted in the rear so the head just clears the trans. If the cart is not lifted you might have clearance issues. I did away with the stock muffler and airbox up there, as well as the fuel tank, and my G9 is lifted. I still had issue with the air tube getting crushed between the frame tube and the head on suspension compression. I used a huge 3" tube out of a minivan so it can be crushed some and not matter. Plan to change that later. Anyway you want the front of the block a little lower to keep the cylinder up when you climb hills, maybe 5-10 degrees or something. If you look back in this thread you will see I put a 1.5" tube across the front of the mount to lower the front of the bars. The engine cradle is sloped due to the lift so it helps level the engine out anyway. Alternatively you can drop the front mount of the cradle to level it with a lift. You can make mounts over the trans like newer carts and mount the gen there instead of in front of the engine.

Re: The CLONE engine setup & specs thread
Ok compare that to when I did the next clone with a robertson header and coupler to a muffler swinging on hangars off the frame (not the cradle)

Re: The CLONE engine setup & specs thread
Wow 2010 I put that stock lifan clone in and its still going strong untouched since install other than normal care. It gets used near every day in summer and many in spring/fall. It was a carrolstream but it said lifan on the motor lol.

Re: The CLONE engine setup & specs thread
It will work, but the later years (newer) you have to run reverse for forward and the gearing is lower so you almost have to put HS gears in to make it run good. I don't recall when they changed maybe 93?
A normal engine the PTO side the clutch is on will turn CCW when running, and that should make the cart go forward in forward gear unless it is a newer model CC. |
