Sounds like dirt in the carb. When I want to see if something is running lean I give it a shot of propane through a hose. If it reves normally you have just diagnosed a fuel problem.Be careful and don't run it on propane to long. Good luck I hope this info helps.

Could it be the heavy mix of oil/gas I mixed it 38-1 for the break in on the new engine

I thought spitting and backfiring would be due to a rich condition. Maybe try the normal ratio of oil to gas?

The plug looks a little black replaced with new .I took the fan off last night and adjusted the ring on the pluser coil it seem to make it run smoother but still would have low rpm.Now if I put the ring in the middle of the adjustment screw it acts like it want's to rev up but just starts spitting and backfireing still dont have any answers.

I don't have any idea I would have to see and hear it run. If anyone else out there has any input please sign on.
