can anyone tell me what this could be?was in the bottom of my diff/trans when i tore it apart.
looks like could only be fromt the gov but pics in manuel dont show it lookin like this? id like to find out before i build and install the diff again? thanks |

Put the puzzle together, and if you still don't know what it is, lay out all of the parts in the rear and see what is missing, looks like part of the governor

Those were the fly weights for the governor. Go ahead and press off the rest of the governor mechanism from the input shaft. Get rid of the fork on the governor shaft that comes out of the diff case. Keep the diff shaft to seal the hole just make sure the shaft will not come out of the case after removing the fork. You don't want the fork free to flop around in the trans. |

thanks again..i seen a pic on shopezgo today also...learned something
i think im going to tap the gov shaft hole and put a plug there with a vent in it..i have it tilted back a little and want to add another 1/2 quart or so to the oil since it will be spinning the input shaft when in neutral and engine running i may even measure stuff and make a lil dip stick just so i no theres a 1/2 inch of oil covering the input bearings..my engine may be in the way tho.. |

Im new to this site,but I'm trying to figure out if i have a locking real end or not,i think its out of a workhorse. its got a small shaft that comes out of the top that turns slightly. Is this how you lock it
