Allied 12V x 4 problems
I installed the Allied Lithium 12V 60AH batteries on my 2013 Precedent a little over 2 years ago. They have been a headache. I have installed the OEM Bypass cable and the Battery Balancer.
The cart still hesitates before it will move from a stop. Also, there is a parasitic draw on the batteries even while in tow mode. 1. Is there a place to interrupt the current to stop all parasitic draw and can I do this with Anderson Connectors? 2. Is the hesitation due to the lousy batteries or do I likely need a new MCOR? Thanks! |

Re: Allied 12V x 4 problems
I’d call allied customer service. I believe they have admitted the 4x12v setup is prone to be problematic and they have switched a couple people here to the newer 48v batteries.

Re: Allied 12V x 4 problems
I really do not like the 4x12 Lithium as it is very prone to getting out of balance. Maybe the balancer which they now can supply can help with that but I really favor having a single BMS that monitors and manages all of the individual cells.

Re: Allied 12V x 4 problems
I have appealed to Allied and I am waiting for their response. These batteries were anything but no maintenance or drop in ready.

Re: Allied 12V x 4 problems
Allied has offered me the opportunity to spend another $500 to get the 2 48V batteries. I am not sure if the others that got replacement batteries had to pay, Does anybody know?
And, are these 48V batteries going to work? Has there been any success with them? Thanks. |

Re: Allied 12V x 4 problems
I don’t know if others have paid or not… the allieds are supposed to have an 8 year warranty. I’d ask them based on that. They’re now a site sponsor here and it wouldn’t look good on them if they won’t honor their warranty, at least not in my opinion, given the number of people on here alone I’ve seen with similar problems to you with the 4x12v setup
I have 2 of the 48v 30aH allied batteries and love them. I’ve had zero problems, and have great range. They were as simple as drop them in, bolt them down, hook ‘em up and go. Literally a 10 minute swap, minus bypassing and removing the OBC (which would have had to happen anyway). |

The balancer will do the trick in terms of balancing but as you said it has a serious parasitic draw which they know about..... hence the change to parallel from series. Stay on them.... |

Re: Allied 12V x 4 problems
This is absolutely the post I came here looking for. I have the 60ah Lithium 12v and fortunately have not noticed much problem in range since I don't have a large neighborhood but have been noticing significant draw down when not in use which has caused my cart to shut off on me a few times recently and require me to disconnect a battery lug which I guess resets it enough I can get the cart back to my house.
I checked all 4 batteries last night after my charger cut off(Lester Summit) and they were around 13.27-13.30 right after it stopped charging. Charger has been cutting off with a error reading for a while as well. Got to be an issue with these 2 year old batteries. Is there someone on the forums that is best to contact from Allied? |
