There are 2 reasons to keep the clip working if possible. 1- it gives the charger a little more accurate view of true battery voltage by bypassing the charger cord losses. 2- it allows the charger to shut off before the main charger port contacts are opened when unplugging while still charging, extending contact life. The white sleeves just slide over the contact, removal is easy (but should be done with wires disconnected for safety).

That is obviously never gonna work. I'd just keep the bypass in the charger.

Just grab the sleeve with needle nose pliers, twist, it will come right off. Make it look like the one I posted above. From Ezgo they only had one sleeve, from China they often have 2 (the Chinese don't really know much about why the sleeve is there). This can be fixed easily & for no money, or we can start a new thread on how to disable the features in a working charger..... Seems like this has become much bigger deal than it really is.

Sorry. I missed your post where you told him to remove the sleeve.

I thought last time I replaced my board in my DPI, that it doesn't use that clip.

DPI charger does not use it. But, I think he just got a new handle for his original charger, which requires the third wire to activate normally.

Everything seems to be working! Thanks for the help! The reason I was really thrown for a loop is because the old handle and receptacle were working with the two plastic sleeves, I still haven't figured that one out..

The clip was probably bypassed inside the handle by connecting the small red wire to the black wire inside the handle itself. Same principle, but eliminates the clip.
