Wanted to say thanks to everyone. (Finished 2008 RXV rehab)
Wanted to say thanks to all for the information I have gotten from this forum. I didn't know anything about golf carts a couple months ago and now I just finished a rehab on a 2008 RXV for my father.
Item completed: Installed new batteries Made and installed new battery cables Upgraded to 2009.5+ motor brake Replaced corrosion damaged parts: - front seat assembly - battery strap - all 3 battery hold down rods Items left: Install BWT watering system (should arrive tomorrow) Reinstall body, seat and top Wash and detail the cart Eventually install stand-alone 12V accessory/light battery and charge port Lots of great advice from this forum both in old posts and quick direct responses to my questions, thanks again and I will contribute back however I can. |

Re: Wanted to say thanks to everyone. (Finished 2008 RXV rehab)
I did some reading and because the cart will have a radio the option of using a smaller stand-alone 12V battery and charger setup seems to be the better choice and I did list that on my todo list. I looked into the 12V regulator but for the radio I need to be always running and a secondary relay installed to power the radio only when the key was on. Add on the possible noise on the 12V regulated output causing radio issues and the 5th battery plan makes the most sense to me.

I just noticed that extra wires on battery number 3, just like Ezgo did it for a while before implementing their dc convertor. Powering those your own way, carry on....

Re: Wanted to say thanks to everyone. (Finished 2008 RXV rehab)
For now I just copied how EZGO did it when new which was straight off the #3 battery for the 2008. It has LED headlights and taillights so the extra load on that battery should be minimal. When I install the radio I plan to move all the 12V items to the 5th battery and prefer to just put a solar panel to keep it topped off. My folks live in Buckeye AZ so plenty of sun available...lol
