Default 36 to 48 V upgrade process questions

Hello everyone,

I have a 1998 EZGO TXT with the “freedom” motor. It currently has 6 6 V batteries, and they are going to need to be replaced within the next few months I presume. (They are 2011’s and still strong as of now...)

I am thinking that on my next set of batteries, I will get a new charger and upgrade it to 48 V. It is a series cart. What else will I have to replace?

I will upgrade the cables to 2 AWG welding wire like I did another one.

Hi Luke. I have done this mod and you will LOVE IT! you will need to replace the Controller, Solenoid, and upgrade the F&R switch. seeing as you have a series cart, go to cartsunlimited.net (scottyb's site) and he has Package deals that will get you everything you need in one shot. Personally I would recommend the PKG#485 (SR48500) then add the HD F&R.

#7 on the list

That’s what I was thinking. I did the SR48400 kit from him for my CC and I’ll probably do the 500 AMP for the EZ GO. I just wanted to make sure that controller replacement was necessary.

Thank you for the help!

Luke
