Default RXV solendoid used on another cart

I know the control circuit, or low side, of the RXV solenoid is 36 volts when used on a 48 volt rxv.

My question is, can I use the RXV solenoid on another type of 48 volt cart that also has a 48 volt control circuit.

I am pretty sure it will work, just not sure if it will last.

Look like I will have to use the scientific method and just give it a shot...

Yea, it won't last long at 48V. You would need to wire it for 36V to the coil. The RXV controller supplies it with about 36V at pull-in, then reduces it to about 24V to hold it in. You can reduce the 48V to 36V on the + wire to the solenoid coil by inserting one or more diodes in series before the coil connection. A single 12.1V Zener diode will drop that much voltage, just be sure to buy one rated for high enough wattage. If you don't want to go that route, you can install a string of diodes in series in line to drop the voltage. The amount of voltage drop depends on the diode you use and the current draw of the coil. A silicon diode will typically drop about .7V per diode, but that increases with higher current flow. You put enough of these in series and you can drop the 12V you need out of the 48V applied.
