Default 36v motor test?

Can I hook motor straight to a battery to see if it will run?

yes, so long as the motor is bolted into the cart. Jack a wheel off the deck & Use 18v.

DO NOT rev the motor up without a real load on it.

When I touch all together motor should spin if working?

Yes, a working motor will spin when connected as shown.
