Default Forward is now reverse, reverse/forward

Meant to say forward is NOW reverse, reverse/forward.

I just replaced my forward/reverse switch it works, sort of. I used masking tape to label the cables, but somehow put 3 pm and 6 pm labels on the same cable! Thought I hooked them back up right, but now forward goes reverse and reverse is not forward.

Did I reverse the cables at the 3 o'clock and 6 o'clock position? Would that result in the change? If so will it hurt to leave it or should I switch it back. Any problem with charging the batteries if these are hooked up wrong?

Thanks, just getting started with a cart and the replacement seemed very simple, but found a way to screw it up!

You should be able to just swap the cables.

Is this a series cart with the handle down by your knee?

Yes, lever just to the right of and below your right knee

Normally, pull it to the left and that is forward. To the right is reverse. But they are switched. So I either hooked it back up wrong or the switch was somehow reversed to start with

But before I switch it back, I just want to be sure that is the problem (switched 3 and 6) so I don't short something out if it is something else

You need to switch 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. Run down your motor S1 and S2 cables and see where there going.

In your diagram:
A = 12 PM
B = 9 PM
C = 6 PM
D = 3 PM

??

If so it appears to be hooked up right. Could I have hooked up the forward/reverse arm 180 degrees on the wrong side of the attachment?

HAHAHA!

Yep, that is how I have them hooked up.

Figured out what I did wrong was I hooked up the arm that goes to the switch 180 on the other side of the bolt where you attach it to the switch. Switched it around and it works correctly!

Thanks for the diagram. I just couldn't see how I had wired it wrong. The cables were all bent in the right directions so they fit perfectly

Thanks for the diagram. That assured me that it was wired properly, so I had to start thinking what else it could be.

Had watched the DIY Golf cart youtube video on how to change it and it was very helpful. Went back and watched it again and saw that I had put the switch arm below the nut, and the video shows it above.

It also showed that the protective cap over the switch won't fit (mine didn't either) with the upgrade to the heavy duty switch because the connections stuck out the wrong way and he showed how to just bend them so they would fit. Also helpful. Here is the video if anyone else is thinking of changing one out.
