Default Bench test ITS

I have an ITS off cart. Can it be easily bench tested off cart?

You can tell if it is working or not, but you cannot tell if it is working right, short of duplicating the pedal box on the bench.

Connect a 12V (or so) power source to it with a milliammeter in series with it.

When you insert a ferrous slug into the coil, the current flow will increase, if it is working.

How much current flow occurs depends on a circuit located inside the cart's controller and how much the current flow increases depends on the magnetic properties of the ferrous slug and how far it is inserted.

Making things more difficult, different controllers use different excitation voltages and some use a constant voltage power source while others use a constant current power source.

About the only way to test is when installed in cart. Make sure you have the correct voltage specs for the controller.

Using high magnification, check for any cracks or lines in the potting compound.

Any moisture getting on the circuits cause all sorts of strange operation.
