Default 2013 EZ Go text.. No charger for about a week.

Hey guys, I had a bad outlet fry my charger.. Stock charger.. It hasn't been charged in about 8 days. I haven't been using the cart at all because I didn't want to completely drain the Batts. The batteries are 6 8v Dekas. Any thoughts on this? My new charger should be here early this week. Will being without a charge this long do any harm to the batteries? When I get the new charger is there anything special I need to do?.. Maybe charge them to full charge.. Then disconnect and then reconnect the charger for a short time? Thanks..

Yeah, don't drive it any, until new charger arrives. What charger did you buy? If it's a DPI, make sure it's set for your brand of batteries.
Just curious, what leads you to believe the wall outlet killed your stock charger?

Because someone wired it incorrectly. Nope not me either lol. But the place I bought my cart from is replacing the charger at no cost to me. Great people by the way. Graham golf carts in Myrtle Beach.. Namely Carl, great guy. I was planning to replace it with an aftermarket charger but Carl told me to send it in and he would warranty out the burnt charger. I was really wondering if I should do anything to the batteries when I get the new charger. I've read where you can unplug and replug the charger to sulfate/hard charge the batteries. .. Don't really understand it all.

There is going to be a certain amount of self discharge on your batteries over this time but it should be relatively small given the short time period.

What is the present voltage / state of charge of your battery pack?

If your pack is at a high state of charge, then sulfation is not expected to be a major issue.

If you pack is at a low state of charge, then some sulfation most likely has occurred ... but given the relatively short time period (in my opinion) it should not affect your battery performance much.

I think your idea of a full charge ... followed by disconnecting and reconnecting the charger for a second full charge (an equalization charge ... which should be shorter than the first charge) is a good way of proceeding.

You can read a little about battery sulfation here: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/a..._to_prevent_it

It sounds like you look after your batteries better than 95% of the common folk ... I don't think that you will have any problems proceeding as you suggested.

See attached State of Charge chart.

The stock QE charger usually turns off so quick when "re-plugged", I don't think it's gonna have much effect.
