Delta-Q RXV / TXT 48V Charger Shenanigans
This is probably more appropriately directed to Delta-Q but figured I'd give it shot here.
I recently picked up a used 48V Delta-Q Quiq 913-4810 listed as compatible pin to enable charging. Is this correct?with Ez-Go TXT / RXV. The internets said that these carts use +48V on the 3rd pin. Is this correct? This thing keeps telling me my 48 pack is over voltage (one red flash) and shows a algorithm of 1, 3, 7 what? is that 37? i can't find any documentation on the 913-xx1x models, but documentation for the 912 states that "37" is for T106s in a 42V configuration. Did any EZ-GOs ever ship with 42V? Attempts at changing the algorithm have been unsuccessful so far... I have the feeling this thing is going to have to be shipped back to DQ or I'm going to be buying some over priced dongle! Ugh! -sj |

i think so too... unfortunately, the procedure for changing algorithms for the 912-xx1x doesn't seem to work on this 913-4810. i have a feeling there may only be one algorithm stored in the eeprom. -sj |

I have always had great luck in dealing with the Techs at Delta Q, I am sure a simple phone call will get you the correct procedure.

Re: Delta-Q RXV / TXT 48V Charger Shenanigans
No love from Delta-Q! Tech support said to contact EZ-GO. I did, however, manage to get some information out of him while i had him on the phone....
He said the 913 is the same as the 912 except that it was OEM programmed for T-1275 and cannot be changed. Led diagnostics are consistent with the 912 documentation. F! My CC DS has 48V of Energizer EGC8 batts, so while not optimized for my own batteries, i see no reason it shouldn't charge them...? Trojan lists the T-1275 at 150Ah @ 20 hour rate, the ECG8 are 170 @ 20 hour rate. Soo... Anyone happen to know what the Green (3rd) wire on the EZ-GO RXV/TXT supplies or what it is looking for? Anyone know the voltage threshold before the charger kicks on? Thanks! -sj |

The green wire connects to red wire on back of the charging receptacle. it the safety switch so you cannot drive off with charger on. I just installed one on my cart, i direct wired mine to the battery pack so I didn't connect the green wire at all.

hay thanx sbarnes! thats how i have it at the moment; mounted on-board w/green disconnected. i guess i need to button it up and do some laps around the block to get the voltage down and then see whats happens...

50.1V & its not charging.... i connected it to 5 batteries for a total of 42.xV and it still flashes a single red LED. ugh! i guess its got a problem...

Re: Delta-Q RXV / TXT 48V Charger Shenanigans
w0ot! i "figured it out"! well sorta...
ok, pulled the charger out thinking it was dead. connected 4 12V SLAs in series. still flashed 1 red. i had tried tying the 3rd wire both high and low through a small fuse while in the cart (not too smart btw) after reading it was part of the interlock system. notta! so on the bench i tried tying the green wire low again, but this time through a 10k resistor to protect any sensitive circuitry on the other end (as if i hadn't blown it up already) and to my surprise, it clicked on! soo... a green wire through 10K resistor to battery neg will trigger the charger to turn on. green wire direct to batt neg does nothing. using a pot, i could trigger the charger on at around 8.5K or so. i haven't tried it yet, but it seems like that value would fit nicely with a 10K thermistor to monitor battery temp. do any EZ-GO's have a battery temp probe onboard? regardless, i have a charger that charges now! yay! my only real concern now is, is this input for monitoring thermal runaway? or is it for temperature compensated float voltage? or is it neither and just part of the interlock? -sj |
