Just got the cart back. Shop said they replaced 2 "axle bearings" and resealed the rear end. The guy who dropped it off, who's one of the mechanics, said that the whine is from the motor. To my ears, it sounds exactly the same as it did before. The video in my first post is how it still sounds. What do you guys think?

I'm thinking I'm going to jack it up and play with it a bit to see if it makes the noise as loud while not under load, and try turning it by hand to see if it whines.

From your experience, are the RXVs supposed to be as quiet as other electrics?

Edit: If I flip the tow switch, will it roll as if in neutral?

Ok so I got up on a small hill, put it in neutral, and flipped the tow switch. Rode it down the hill and it still makes the whine. Would you all say that eliminates the motor from being the culprit?

I'm not sure, but i just make a test with my rxv and i think the motor keep spinning even when the cart is in neutral so i think your motor can be the culprit. I hope it can help.

Keep in mind that the motor has bearings in it as well, and one of them could very well be bad.

It does ride a bit smoother, so I think he replaced the bearings in the hubs. When I rolled it down the hill in tow/neutral, it wasn't as loud as when under load, but still very obvious and def the same source. I talked to the dealer again and he is taking it back on Monday to keep looking for the exact source. It's under warranty, so frankly I don't care what it is at this point. I'll keep you guys up to speed on it once they figure it out.

Meanwhile, I'm gonna put some serious mileage on it this weekend

Did you have it in tow mode as well?

I don't have the choice to put it on tow mode, it's the only way to release the brake. I tell you that i'm not sure, because now my cart is on the block without tire so i just release the brake and turn the rear end with my hand. Question, how could a 2010 can still under waranty ?

I bought it "refurbished" from this dealer and he gives a 2 year warranty through his shop. It's no good anywhere else but his shop.

I have my RXV on 23s and it is louder than a dc cart but by no means would I say it is difficult to have a conversation. With stock tires mine was just a little louder than a TXT but not bad. I would send it back again. They will get the point and eventually fix it. Does the shop you purchased it from have another RXV? Or do you know someone who does? I am thinking a side by side comparison would prove you have issues that need to be addressed.

Also I would not test the cart on jack stands with no load. Not real sure about the AC motor but on a DC that will pretty much toast it.
