76 TXT only clicks when pressing accelerator
bought a OLD EZ GO (1976 TXT). It's been working fine. Went to use it and all I get is a click when trying to go either fwd or rev. Recharged batteries, added water, recharged batteries...same thing click and no go. Lights are bright, batteries only 2 years old. cabling looks good. Could it be the solenoid or the controller?

Howdy - is this a 1996 by chance? Series or DCS drive?

Re: 76 TXT only clicks when pressing accelerator
'76 TXT huh? PLEASE post pics of cart, i gotta see a '76 TXT... All kidding aside (TXT came out in the '90s), put your volt meter on the end terminals of battery pack, where you will find roughly 36v. Press pedal and observe if voltage drops way low, like in the teens. If so, you have one or more trash batteries.

Re: 76 TXT only clicks when pressing accelerator
It wouldn't be a bad idea to post some photos of the whole cart and the area under the seat.
If it's a '76 TXT, my guess is that the problem may have something to do with the flux capacitor. You may be only getting 2.1 jiggawatts instead of the nominal 2.2 jiggawatts. Replacing the flux cap with a "Mr. Fusion", and renewing the electrolytes with orange juice or Mountain Dew might fix the problem. Large gauge energy conduits may also help. Check the Jeffries tubes and make sure that you've got at least 38.4 Heisenbergs of dilithium on both sides of the flux cap after a full charge, using an H-O-M (Heisen-Ohm-Milliameter, if you don't own one, you should be able to pick one up at Lowes or Home Depot for about 10 solar credits). If the Heisens are below 36H, you're at less than 40% SOC and it's time to replace the flux cap. I think that ScottyB carries the Made-in-the-U.S.A. Mr. Fusion upgrades. Stay away from the cheap Chinese Mr. Fuzion clones -- those usually fail one or two days after the warranty expires. Just sayin'.... RLW |
