Stock solenoid sucks even with stock parts unless you already have the "white rogers", its plenty fine for controllers 500a and below. The good factory solenoid looks like this, the rest of factory solenoids are junk. Stock f&r should be upgraded as well. 4ga cables are good for you too (if yours are not already 4ga, many stock 400a factory cars had 4ga cables).

Concur. I had a stock motor, stock tires, stock controller, but managed to melt the guts of two stock solenoids. We push our buggies harder than they were meant to run.
