Best model for low end torque not speed
I have a 36volt 1999 DCX with plastic body 22"tires,and 6" lift , I think the controller is standard. My DCX has the large lever for fwd/rev, I have been told that the Ezgo carts with the small fwd/rev switch on the dash have more low end torque and would be better for larger tires and hilly terrain. Is this so
and if it is, should I look to sell mine and buy one or can my dcx be upgraded for more low end. Also wanted to add, looking it up on the sticky about dcx models, I think it may be a sepex because the controller has kind of a triangle cover like to one in the sepex pitcure |

Re: Best model for low end torque not speed
You are getting some misleading advice there... Let me try to clear the muddy waters.
Ezgo made 3 drives systems from 1975-2008. They are Series, PDS, and DCS Series carts are the workhorse of the group. They produce the most torque with the lowest rpm. Series carts came in 3 shift handles over the years. (so the advice you got was misleading) PDS carts are the faster people mover type drive system. These carts produce a lot more speed but much less torque than the series drive carts. DCS was the first venture into separately excited DC motors for Ezgo. The DCS cart produces less torque and more speed than the series drive cart. It is actually a very good mix between the Series and PDS drive. The DCS had a fatal flaw in the OEM control which gave the cart a bad name. The control had no low voltage cut off and when the pack was let to run extremely low the controller would burn up. Aftermarket controls like the Alltrax DCX400DCS fixed this problem and produce a very nice ride with a good combination of torque and speed. |

Re: Best model for low end torque not speed
Ok so my DCS which has the big fdw/rev lever on the body and Run / Tow-Maint. switch on the controller cover is a regen not series? If so what could be done to improve low end?

Lets establish a few facts about your cart and it's desired use What size tires are on the cart? How many people ride on the cart? Is the electrical system 36 or 48 volts? What size is the speed control? What top speed is desired? Is the used on or off the road? Is the terrain hilly? Is the footing sandy or muddy? |

Just to throw sand in the gears....
You said you might consider selling and replacing cart.. Look at the RXV series of carts by Ez-Go. Great speed.Great performance on hills. No mods needed. |
