Default Charger or computer trouble?

I have a 1996 Club Car Carryall. My batteries are 3 months old. It gets down to 44 volts and I put the charger on it and the charger starts charging at 17 amps. After a couple of minutes the charger cuts off and it tests at 46 volts.

If I unplug the charger and plug it back in, it will not charge.

If I unplug it, turn the key on and drive 2 feet, turn key off, plug in charger, it starts charging again for about 2 more minutes then cuts off.

Is my charger at fault or is there a computer telling my charger to cut off?

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give me.

You absolutely should not be running your new battery or any battery down so far unless you would like to be buying some more sooner than needed! You should never run your battery pack down past 48.4 volts; 44 volts is off the charts DEAD.... You should adapt to charging your cart anytime it is not being used... My best guess that your charger is overloading and cutting out trying to charge batteries that are all but flatline.... You may need to charge each battery carefully with a 12 volt charger to bring its voltage up over 7.7 to 8 volts before your cart charger can take over again....

Sounds like you've got a computer problem. The charger obviously works, it's simply doing as it's told. The problem is that the computer is telling it to turn off at the wrong time. That's also why the battery pack is so weak. The OBC won't let it charge long enough to get any power in the pack. I've seen this a lot. Tallyho, we've got OBCs on our web store but they're all for golf cars. I can get you the correct one for your Carryall, just shoot me a PM or give me a call if you're interested. The phone number is on the link below. Thanks.

OBC is more than likely the culprit- seen what yours is doing many times and it has always been the OBC.

Yes it was the OBC. I want to thank TahoeDawg for his help. I was just about to order a new OBC from him when my neighbor offered his from a junk cart he had.

It was a miracle but his was the exact same one I had and everything worked perfect after I installed it.

This forum is awesome!
