Alltrax programmability?
I'm rebuilding my 2001 EZGO and have already installed the super duty reverse contact, 2g cables, led meter, and dc reducer from Scotty. I was also considering upgrading the controller. After answering a bunch of questions about how I use the cart, Scotty recommended the sr48500. My question is: how much can you actually change the speed vs torque characteristics with programming? Basically, if I have Scotty ship it with a particular setup, and I decide I want more, or less, of one or the other, can I change it much? Or, am I predominantly confined to specific torque vs speed characteristics based on which model I choose?
Current setup is 2001 36v EZGO series freedom with some sort of higher speed motor. (19-21 with good batteries on flat ground). The cart will not be lifted and primarily is for street cruising. I'm considering moving to 42v when it's new batteries time. The reason for wanting to be able to change settings is I'll probably be using it for golf again in a couple years and may also install a rear seat at some point. If I understand it correctly, both of these things would lend to needing more torque. If I can have it all, I'd like to be able to adjust for these possibilities, and have a top speed somewhere around 25-28. I'm in the foothills, but it's mostly just rolling stuff, and hill climbing isn't an issue. Thanks in advance for any input http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...t-rehab-5.html |

Re: Alltrax programmability?
You are not going to get that performance with 36V. Sounds like you have a series motor. If that is the case, then the only programming that will help you is more current.

I don't know who offers an over 25mph series motor? PQ?
Anyway with a series motor you don't have to choose between torque and speed as you do with a sepex motor. With series we can tune for full torque and full speed without compromise. |

Re: Alltrax programmability?
Yes, as stated, it's a series. Thanks for the input and I do get it that I'm not going to get any additional power without adding some more volts. The plan is to go to 42v when I need new batteries, and wouldn't expect all I'm asking for without at least that. My question has more to do with making speed vs torque changes within the controller by changing the (field map???) Or, is that something that is more of a byproduct of which type of motor you have? I've seen posts about the field map but don't really understand it as I've got the original controller.

Re: Alltrax programmability?
Field maps are for sepex motors. The series motors do not filed maps.

Thanks Scotty, that's exactly the info I was looking for. And, yes, it was a while ago, but PQ says they can build me a motor that'll do 27-28 with my current setup.
