Brake light switch
I have a 98 EZ GO TXT. I am installing a street legal light set and it cam switch a brake light switch. I currently do not have one installed and can not find a pic on the net showing it installed on a cart. Does anyone have one and can you show me how you installed it. I can't post a pic yet, but it is a silver button that is supposed to be mounted somehow under the brake pedal. It is not the black pad I am seeing everywhere. Thanks.

Re: Brake light switch
See if this link will help you. In the brakes section there is an exploded view of the pedal. (Pg 40). I just had to fix mine during my rebuild, as the springs and rubber nuts were broken. Not the same exact year, but i would imagine they're close, if not exact.
On mine you have to drill the rivets out that hold the pedal pad in place. Underneath that is a metal plate attached with screws. Beneath that is where the switch installs. http://mikes-golf-carts.com/wp-conte...art-Manual.pdf |

Re: Brake light switch
Orange, that is the diagram for EZGo carts that came with the brake lights as an option. Most brake pedals are solid and not hinged.
Darlington without seeing the switch I am not sure what to tell you but I have seen people drill a hole through the brake pedal and mount it that way. |

Re: Brake light switch
This is sorta how I mounted mine except mine is the other way. When I push the pedal it engages the switch. Installed the way shown in the pic the pedal when not pressed by the foot is pressing the button on the switch and when the brake pedal is pressed the button is released turning on the lights.
To keep my brake lights off when the parking brake was engaged I had to install a relay tied into my 12v system that turns off all the 12v stuff when the key is off. |
