Re: 16v to 12v reducer help
So, if I understand what you are saying, if you have a 36v cart, you can forget about a reducer at all and connect to 2 batteries. I know this works, but is it not a crude undesirable way to do it?

lol I would not say it's crude or undesireable. Just do not choose the 2 main batteries your main positive and negative connect to, they have to work hard enough as it is |

I told him the lights will be dim, and even worse after driving for a while without a reducer that can handle both but he said he would deal with it. Thanks again gents |

Re: 16v to 12v reducer help
Yes I am new to electric carts. But I know coming off the main positive and negative I am pushing 36 or 48. Does it not draw unevenly from others causing problems? If that is the case why install a reducer on 36v carts?

Re: 16v to 12v reducer help
If you hook your lights up to two batteries, yes it draws unevenly. It's not gonna be a problem if you rarely use your lights. If you use them a lot, get a 36-48v to 12v reducer and use the whole pack.
A 36 volt cart would have no use for a 16 to 12v reducer. Hooking lights up to two batteries on a 36 volt cart is the same concept as using a 16 to 12v reducer on a 48v cart with 8v batteries in it. A 36-48 to 12v reducer will work on both a 36 or 48 volt cart and will drop the battery power down from the full pack voltage to a 12 volt output. |

Re: 16v to 12v reducer help
Like tahoedawgz said if you use your lights on a constant basis and not just occasionally at night, get yourself the reducer. Although it's not crucial, I would get a reducer with a key switch wire so when the key is off so is the reducer. Even though a lot of people leave their golf cart key on anyway...

Re: 16v to 12v reducer help
Thanks. I'm gonna forget about this 24 to 12 reducer and get a 48 to 12.
