Re: Speed sensor issues with plum quick motors?
There is nothing special about the speed sensor.
Make sure You are getting the proper voltage to the speed sensor or it will not work at all. Disconnect the 3-pin connector from the speed sensor and measure the voltage between the black and the red wires on the harness side, you should get +15v. If You don't get 15v, measure the voltage directly on the Controller 16-pin connector between pins #13 and #15. If You have +15v there, there is a broken wire between that 16-pin connector and the 3-pin connector by the motor. If You don't have +15v there either, the controller is bad. |

Re: Speed sensor issues with plum quick motors?
Ok I'm getting 14.9-15v on both the harness side and at the 16 pin connector. I'm a little confused though..would the broken wire be one of the 3 (red, black, green) in the speed sensor harness or something else in the 16 pin connector. Sorry if I sound remedial but I DO have full continuity on all three wires from 16 pin connector to the plug.

Re: Speed sensor issues with plum quick motors?
The only reason to measure the voltage at the 16-pin connector was if You did not have voltage at the 3-pin connector.
The two remaining options are: 1) The speed sensor is not working (talk about back luck with 6 different units). To test the speed sensor output, lift one of the rear wheels off the ground and measure the voltage on Controller 16-pin connector #14 pin (light green wire). The voltage should vary from 0 to 5v as the wheel turns. You should turn the wheel slowly by hand as you will get lots of pulses (transitions from 0 to 5v) If the voltage on pin #14 does not change: 1)What is the voltage reading, 0 or 5v? |

Re: Speed sensor issues with plum quick motors?
I wouldn't be surprised if 6 ebay sensors in a row were bad. It wouldn't surprise me in the least. To add more fuel to the fire, I've seen ebay sensors work fine with OEM magnets, but not work at all with a high speed magnet or a modified PQ magnet. That's why I only deal with the OEM sensors. There are certain things you shouldn't cut corners on. Speed sensors are definitely in that category.

Re: Speed sensor issues with plum quick motors?
Ok guys I just did the test that Sergio suggested and with the 3 pin connector PLUGGED IN I get readings varying from 0 - 5V when the wheels turn slowly at the 14 pin on the controller and with the 3 pin connector UNPLUGGED it stays at 4.7V with no change. I'm not really sure what this indicates so again I'm gonna need your expertise. Thanks again tremendously!

Re: Speed sensor issues with plum quick motors?
It might be worth mentioning too that I still do NOT get a speed pulse indicator when using the IQDM while performing the same test.

Re: Speed sensor issues with plum quick motors?
That means the speed sensor is working correctly, but the controller is not able to read the pulses.
Replace the controller. |
