Default Ez go txt brakes grabbing /locking up.

Hey gang.. Me again. The brakes on my '13 EZ GO txt just recently started grabbing pretty violently when you hit the brakes. My daughter told me about it and when I drove it I made sure I wasn't hitting the parking brake. It wasn't doing it but then started grabbing. Could it be needing adjusting or would it more than likely be something broken since it started suddenly? Thanks again.

I went out this morning and checked. All 8 of the bolts for the rear lift kit were very loose. Tightened them all back up and it fixed the grabbing brakes. They have lock nuts on them, if they come loose again I'll use some loctight or some lock washers.

Yes when you put a lift kit and larger tires, on your cart. The rear axle will turn in the u bolts, if there not real tight, and cause the brakes to pull on the cable and lock up the brakes.

Right..i said u bolts but they're actually 8 straight bolts. I might look in to changing them out for some grade 8s. Not sure what's in there now.

OK so I tightened the loose u bolts and the brakes were braking normally with no grabbing or locking up. Now the brakes are back to grabbing and locking up and the u bolts are still tight. Any other recommendations as to some causes of brakes grabbing and locking up? I did notice if I rode the brakes some to seemingly heat them up the locking up will go away for a while. Thanks

AZ had some good advice. And I doubt this is the issue, but while you have the drums off....if you have a micrometer that you could check to see if your drums are out-of-round. I would also look at the drum surface for any irregularities that may have occurred when your brakes were grabbing. Again, it's a long shot.....but I would look.
