Default Battery water maintenance

How often should the batteries be filled with distilled water, and what is the best way to add water to the batteries? Turkey Baster?

I check mine once every two weeks, and I use a turkey baster!

I was actually joking about the turkey baster, but COOL!!!! How do I know when I have added enough water? I haven't yet popped the top off yet to look into a catr's batteries. it's my first cart.

1/4" to 1/2" above the plates.

I have a single-point watering system but it's more trouble than it's worth because you're never sure exactly how much water went in (I overfilled the first time I used it). It's easier (& more reliable) to just take the tops off and check them manually even if it does take a few minutes more.

My battery waterer consists of a dollar store plastic bottle with a nozzle on it ... could be used for ketchup, mustard, vinegar or for watering cart batteries. See attached photo of this highly technical device.

I try to check my electrolyte level every 4 or 5 battery charges. I also keep the level only 1/4" to 1/2" maximum above the battery plates ... any higher level and I find that I tend to get some minor puddling of battery acid after charging as it vents out of the SpeedCaps on my US Batteries.

Exactly what happened to me with the single point watering so I now do it manually and make sure it is no more than 1/2". I also have US Battery.

That works good for my 2 middle batteries, but not the 2 outside. They are partially blocked by the body so I use my old trusty tranny funnel and give a 2 second pour to each cell and that gets me at my needed 1/4"-1/2" level...

It's OK to just use a jug with a good pouring spout and a steady hand.

I think one of the best things is a laboratory wash bottle. You can aim the spout anywhere and the soft bottle is squeezable to deliver the distilled water. I used one of those for years. It has gone missing in my moves so I must get another one.

This one is $1.89 with free shipping in the US - https://www.amazon.com/Qinlee-Scient...ds=wash+bottle
