Drive Clutch Removal 2004 DS
Ive had it with this thing! It took quite a bit of work just to get the bolt out and then I have since screwed in an "authentic" puller tightened it down and its still not coming out. I have heard many people mentioning to "tap" it and it will come off but nothing. Its tightened down to the max. My torgue wrench cant break it free. Am I missing something? Is there a step that I should have done? Is there anything else to remove (other than the initial bolt) before this thing will come off? Any ideas, suggestions or smart remarks?
Thanks in advance! |

When all else fails, crank that puller bolt down, walk away. I have come back in the morning with the clutch laying off the side. If you can put a little heat on the back (while puller is in), that might do it too.

Forgive my ignorance but like with a butane torch? Where would I apply said heat?

I always hit the puller bolt with a few quick raps of the air impact gun and it always pops off. I'd do that before the heat.

Pull the puller bolt out....assuming it’s a spin in bolt that pushes on the engine shaft? And pour some oil in there and then tighten the puller back in. It will act like hydraulics and should pop it off. You can also snug up puller and hit it sideways with a hammer towards engine. Just take care how hard you hit it sideways as it stresses engine bearings.
Heat can be applied in between the clutch sheaves. Try to avoid it if you can but if you heat don’t heat to the point you will damage the crank seal. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

remove puller bolt, put a good amount of grease in the hole, screw puller bolt in and zap it with an impact wrench,This ALWAYS works for me and I am a golf course mechanic

I see you mentioned torque wrench.
A electric or air impact would would a lot better. |

Also, if the clutch is sideways (it’s still mounted) how do I put oil or grease in the hole to create the hydraulic effect? Perhaps I’m dim, sorry... |

Re: Drive Clutch Removal 2004 DS
Maybe you could jack up that side of the cart to help the oil or grease to stay in their.
