U Bolts
Public Service announcement to the forum.
On my 1987 Club Car I am installing heavy duty leaf springs to handle the extra weight due to the flip seat install. The heavy duty springs are of course thicker than the original single leaf spring. That requires a longer u bolt to attach the axle to the spring support plate. The original u bolts are 3/8" diameter. They have a 2 1/4" inside spread and are 4" long. What I needed was an extra inch in length in order to get washers and nuts on. I ordered a set of heavy duty spring u bolts for a Club Car DS, gas or electric, 1981+. What i got was nowhere near correct for fitment. The heavy duty spring u bolts I received were 1/2" diameter and the inside spread was 3 1/2"!!! The only thing right was the length as they measured 5". No way these would work. I ended up contacting a vendor to have custom u bolts made for about $40.00 with shipping. Just an FYI. |
