Default 85 Clutch/belt question

I had a friend bring me a 1985 DS that he wants new clutches on. I'm getting ready to order drive and driven clutches for an 88-96 (from what I've learned on the forum). The only question I have is what drive belt and SG belt to get so I can complete the job. Too many options out there especially given the fact that I'm installing the newer clutches on an older engine. Any advice on belt selection?

You can order your large drive belt based on treating the cart like it's a 1988-1991 model. As far as the smaller starter/generator belt, you'll need to show us a pic of the starter/generator pulley. Many of the older carts (1984-1987) with the older clutches had larger starter/generator pulleys on them, so you may end up having to do the string trick to find out what length belt you need.

Thanks for the link SB, I really appreciate it! I'm away from the cart right now but will get a pic uploaded after work.

Ok this is just an update in case others in the future have the same question on what belt to get for the SG when upgrading clutches from the Salisbury style to the newer style. The SG pulley on the new style drive clutch is exactly the same as before so the old belt will work just fine. I hope this helps others in the future!
