Default So I just lifted my club car....

And the engine is knocking, big time!

I haven't leveled it out yet, could the change in oil level be a part of the cause, or is that wishful speculation?

Also, big thanks to Craig on here, who has answered NUMEROUS questions via text.

Rebuild or buy a clone?

What? You gotta be kidding.

Yeah level it out and see what happens. But a "big time" knock doesn't sound like it would be caused by the un-level motor alone, but I suppose it's possible if the splasher can't reach the oil. After I lifted my '87 6" I drove it for about a month or so with no issue before leveling the cradle.

You're sure it's not the exhaust? Is this the first time you've run it with that muffler I sent you?

Thanks for all the info today Craig!

Exhaust is good. I am thinking about using a strap to level it, and see if the knocking decreases, slim chance but I'm going to try.

I have seen on other threads where a harbor freight engine was used, new for about $300. Is this not a viable option, too difficult to customize to fit? You may have told me earlier and I forgot, been one of those days...

Just lowered it to close to level, still rattles like crap...

Looks like that sucker is coming out tomorrow!

oil level is correct ??
and is it the engine internally knocking or something else knocking ?
ie metal on metal from a vibration (engine running) ??

Check oil ines and make sure all hoses and tubing are not kinked, twisted or obstructed. I would reseat them all as well as you check.

Oil level is perfect, I pulled the cover off the side to make sure that wasn’t the problem, it’s not. I wish it was....

Thanks for the help so far! Question, in this thread:

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/big-b...r-upgrade.html

SHO305 refers to clones of the KF82 being based on a honda GX390.

Forgive my ignorance, but how much modification is needed to swap the KF for the GX? Would I still be able to use my Starter/Generator? Thanks so much!

Thanks! I've looked into their kits and they look awesome. Just not sure I want to spend that much, and my kids will be driving this sucker in a few years. That 23hp would be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. I think I will pull it tomorrow, open that engine up to see what the heck happened.

I'd like to go with the GX if it's not TOO difficult.

I get the opportunity to buy the vanguard vtwin engines through my business every once in a while, and the adapter kit appears to be about $500. That would be perfect...

I let my eight year old granddaughter drive my cart all the time. With no problems at all.
I have a 23 V-Twin on steroids with 6 to 1 gears....
I am currently working with my youngest grandson who is 5, and autistic. Now he has been a challenge to teach how to drive....... We have a saying in my family, we use it often.
"Can't never Could"
So we will keep trying and keep trying, to where even my grandson can enjoy the carts.....
Trust me on this, when you get that cart up and running, Family members(even the ones you don't like) will all be wanting to ride on the cart, including the dog......
Take your time, don't rush into any decisions. Before pull the trigger on anything.
Make a list of what the cart needs, once the list is completed, then you can start figuring out what money goes where.
I have a few questions pertaining your cart?
1. Is the motor locked up or does it turn over?
2. Does it have both clutches and the belt?
3. Do you have a bench to place the engine on?

I ask this because Kawasaki Motors are pretty much indestructible and very easy to rebuild, even the common guy can work on the Kawasaki Motors.
Although I was able to Crater one, but I am different than everybody else.

What kind of shape is the cart in?
I will say this I love brand new engines

The whole family is going to love this cart you did good....
