Club Car rear axle not engaging?
2010 club car, electric 48v setup. the cart started acting like the rear passenger side brake was not releasing, hanging up, which its not. so i thought maybe clutch issue (does it have a clutch), or internal rear end issue? when you first give it gas, it grabs partially releases and grabs, keeps doing this and eventually engages and runs smooth.

Re: Club Car rear axle not engaging?
It does not have a clutch.
I'm pretty new to these things, so I'm sure someone else on here will have more ideas on what your issue is. However, sounds to me like you might have some sort of a motor issue. possibly the brushes wearing down/unevenly? |

Re: Club Car rear axle not engaging?
There is nothing to engage or disengage in an electric cart. The motor is permanently geared to the rear end.
The only thing that might create that impression is if voltage is pulsing/sagging to the motor. Possible causes are loose/corroded cables or wires, low/failing batteries, or the accelerator (potentiometer) starting to fail. Also motor brushes "could" cause that, but normally (if your cart is really 2010) they last a long, long time - and 2010 would be an early failure of those. Post your cart's serial number. That will help people who are familar with the various models of 48v club car, make more precise troubleshooting suggestions. |

Rover4, curious if you have figured out what is causing the issue?

Re: Club Car rear axle not engaging?
Sounds to me like you have an axle twist issue possibly. As the cart begins to accelerate the axle twists and rotates and causes the brake cable to pull and activate the brake on that side. Tighten your u bolts or lift kit bolts. Disconnect the passenger brake line and I would bet it runs normal sans the lack of braking on that wheel.
